Do I get a tax receipt from donating to MHAFOC?

No. Unfortunately, we are currently operating as a non-profit organization and not as a registered charity, therefore we cannot issue tax receipts at this time.


Do any of your staff receive salaries?

No. Everyone involved in the organization is a volunteer.


Do you disclose financial statements?

Yes. We publish our financial statements to this website, once a year, in December so that donors can see where their money is going.


Who do you raise funds for?

We raise funds for The Mental Health Awareness Foundation of Canada. Our funds are used to support our awareness initiatives. We donate the surplus funds we raise to other charities that support mental health issues.


Are you affiliated with CAMH or CMHA?

No. These are the two charities we generally donate our surplus funds to because they are leaders in the field. CAMH is the leading hospital for mental illness research. CMHA is the leading association for community services.


Do you accept cash donations?

No. We only accept donations via our website. When we do door to door campaigns we accept cheques made payable to: The Mental Health Awareness Foundation of Canada.
